A look around the neighborhood is bound to reveal the tasteful (and occasionally tacky) twinkle of Christmas lights this time of year. We can all thank Thomas Edison who first strung together these celebratory tiny lights on this day in 1882 for his associate Edward Johnson.

Since 1975, David Byrne has been burning down the house with his quirky yet explosive on-stage presence as a solo artist and frontman of the Talking Heads. His hair's all grey now, but he's never wavered from his youthful energy.
