Mr and Mrs Arthur B. Tuthill of Goshen were honored by some 100 family members and friends on their 50th wedding anniversary at a party Saturday, October 17, at the home of their son and daughter in law, Mr and Mrs Clifford Tuthill on Maple Avenue. Mr Tuthill and the former Mary Helen Van Voorhis were married at the home of the bride in the town of Goshen by the Rev. Floyd A. Crane, then pastor of the Goshen First Presbyterian Church. Pictured with them are their five children, standing left to right, Kathryn (Mrs Raymond Maney) of Goshen, Doris (Mrs Wilfred Borland) of Walden, and Florence (Mrs Lee Anderson) of Yonkers; and sons Clifford and Arthur Tuthill, both of the town of Goshen. There are also 10 grandchildren. Mr Tuthill was actively engaged in farming at the Maple Avenue farm all his life until two years ago when they moved to Dugan Lane in the village, turning over the farmhouse and it’s more than 100 acres of land devoted to dairying to Arthur Jr and wife and family. The farmhouse, which was built more than a century ago was the scene of the golden wedding of his parents, Mr and Mrs Egbert J Tuthill, on September 21, 1921. Although they disposed of many antique household articles at the time they moved into the village, Mr and Mrs Tuthill still preserve a bound volume of copies of the Independent Republican dating from 100 years ago. They have been subscribers to the newspaper for all their married life. Mr and Mrs Tuthill are active members of the Presbyterian Church.
